Due to limited chamber options on existing criminal floors in Castan Chambers with high occupancy levels and many barristers sharing (85% sharing on a floor vs. BCL average of 25% sharing in a building) we are now offering a short-term solution to occupy chambers on level 10 under the BCL Chamber Rules of Occupancy (30 day rules).
Now open for applications, level 10 Castan Chambers will be a non group, BCL Managed Floor available exclusively for criminal barristers seeking their first chambers, wishing to transition from shared to sole occupancy or wanting to be in close proximity.
With chambers awarded in accordance with the BCL Chamber Rules of Occupancy it offers a non-group, barrier-free option for criminal barristers to secure chambers in a highly sought after, predominantly criminal practice location where supply is limited but demand is high.
Castan Chambers is located at 460 Lonsdale Street near the County and Magistrates Court, housing Gorman Chambers (level 9), Crockett Chambers (level 17), and a non-group floor on level 16. These floors, along with level 10 are due to be considered for renewal at lease expiry August 2027.
Chamber fees have been priced at a significantly reduced rate, with rooms taken ‘as is’ based on current configuration.
Level 10 offers a high end quality fit-out that provides 24 rooms reduced monthly fees; sized from 16m2 to 40m2 with large kitchen and seating area, 2 meeting rooms with AV facilities, BCL Managed Printer and waiting area.
Includes BCL Managed Floor service with a consumable budget for coffee, tea, milk and fruit and ensuring the kitchen and dishwasher is managed throughout the day (Approx. $21 ex. GST per month).
