BCL took on the exciting task of renovating the Owen Dixon Chambers East Level 1 late last year. As an integral part of the Victorian Bar, it was important to refresh the space into a contemporary hub for long standing and new members to engage in whilst keeping in mind the Bar’s long established values.
With a view for completion in March 2017, the Project and IT teams got to work quickly to put together the vision our interior designers Grey Puksand and CEO of the Victorian Bar Sarah Fregon envisioned.
The outcome was a fresh, open space with state of the art technology capabilities which now includes video conferencing, live streaming and recording capabilities.
The Richard Griffith Library has a completely new layout with hot desking and free space which encourages collegiality. The Neil McPhee Room has been transformed into a space that can cater for large audiences for meetings, conferences and speeches and will continue to be used to introduce readers to the Bar.
To celebrate such a successful transformation, BCL and the Victorian Bar teamed together to celebrate the official launch on 1 May 2017. Attendees enjoyed drinks and delicious canapes catered by The Essoign Club whilst taking tours around the floor, enjoying enjoying the new facilities.
The speeches delivered by the BCL Chairman Michael Wyles Q.C. and President of the Victorian Bar Jennifer Batrouney Q.C. were given which emphasised that BCL delivered this project on time and within budget. Michael Wyles Q.C. also touched on BCL’s commitment to supporting and delivering facilities like Owen Dixon Chambers East Level 1 to the Bar with a focus on encouraging community and collegiality.
We’d like to thank all those that attended the launch night and the Victorian Bar for their hard work and dedication during this project.
