As part of BCL’s evolution to a true service culture over the past 12 months, we have made big changes to our email hosting services.
The year started with the consolidation and modernization of our email servers. These are now hosted in multiple BCL locations, inside purpose-built data centre facilities. As part of this upgrade we also migrated to the latest version of software running on the servers which enabled us to support a wide range of client devices.
The rapidly changing cyber landscape has also compelled us to take extra measures to protect clients from cyber threats, therefore we undertook major works in uplifting our capability in dealing with cyber security threats in March 2017. This included upgrading network firewall infrastructure and email spam filters, allowing BCL to remain unharmed in the event of global outbreaks of viruses and malware.
This security capability was tested during a few major global ransomware attacks (WannaCry and Petya) and a few specific attacks during which BCL and its clients were largely unaffected.
After extensive research and market comparisons, in November 2017 we introduced a standard 10GB mailbox – a substantial increase from the previous 500mb offered.
With our extended hours of on-site and 24/7 remote support for IT enquiries, we are committed to providing our clients with the best experience possible in the digital age.
Additional upgrades are in the pipeline for 2018 to ensure we continue to support the evolving needs of barristers.
