24/01/05 Backing up your important documents
 

Last Year I received a lot of calls from barristers who had lost all their case files either from theft or hardware failure. Please make sure that you are constantly backing up your important documents and more importantly keeping those files in a safe and secure location.

I have created a program that operates silently in the background and will not only automatically backup your work for you but it also provides remote access to your files meaning that you can access your documents where ever you have access to the Internet. 12/12/04 Spyware problems
 

I am noticing an increased number of members computers which are riddled with Spyware. Spyware are small programs that can install themselves on your computer often by the simple act of visiting a webpage.

Once Spyware has been installed it can send details of sites you have visited back to a central advertising server and may cause "pop up" adds to appear on your system. Popular adds consist of porn sites or even Spyware removal programs.

It is also known to dramatically slow down your computer and Internet access. In some severe cases it can clog your Internet access and cause your email program to have troubles connecting to the server, giving an error code '0x800ccc0E".

There are several free programs out there to rid your system of Spyware. I like to use a program called Spybot Search and Destroy which can be downloaded from http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html

If you are still having troubles with Spyware please contact one of our private contractors who will be able to clean your system for you as I am not able to assist with Spyware problems.

4th Feb 2005 - Internet Access

There was a problem with Internet Access caused outside our network. I am waiting for a report from Optus to find out more.

21st Jan 2005 - Email delay

There was a delay in sending outbound emails caused by a fault with an automatic update of our Virus program. No emails have been lost and no further action is required by members.

22nd Dec 2004 - Spam System

A fault occurred with our Spam system resulting in the Spam program being reinstalled. A side effect of this is that all user settings have been wiped. Members will need to request new passwords to access the spam system via the website http://mail.vicbar.com.au/spamconsole
