BCL ID Cards
Barristers' Chambers Ltd has introduced ID cards for all contractors and staff. They identify the person, the company and have a specific time period. These cards (see attached pdf file) have a time sensitive stripe which when visible, indicates that the card is no longer valid. Invalid cards have a pink stripe running diagonally across the card indicating this fact. Permanent contractors are issued with a plastic card valid for one year. BCL staff have also been issued with these cards which may be presented on request. Tenants who see what they believe are contractors in the building may request to see their identity card. If refused please ring the Commissionaire's desk on extension 8684 or BCL on extension 8888. BCL has offered these cards to Clerks and the Victorian Bar at no cost and it is hoped that they all take up this offer. Tenants who wish work to be undertaken in their chambers are reminded that works are to be done in accordance with the Tenancy Works Guidelines. These guidelines have now been amended to include the requirement for a contractor ID card and the contractor to undertake a site induction. This requirement is to ensure the safety of the contractors concerned and the probity of those accessing the building. Should anyone have any concerns about the above please contact extension 8888. BCL hopes that the introduction of the Identity Card will assist the identification of legitimate contractors and reduce the risk of unwanted intrusion.
